Nexus Alpha Ltd

Tyrell-CIS Interface

Overview

Working with ATOS Origin, Nexus Alpha has developed an automatic interface between Tyrell and the ATOS LICC system. This allows amendments to train services already made by Tyrell Operators to be passed to the ATOS solution without the need to rekey the information.

Using a new ATOS software module, the service amendments are then automatically updated on CIS displays on stations and in any associated automated public address announcements.

Amendments that can be passed to the LICC from Tyrell systems automatically include:

  • Cancelling an entire train
  • Terminating a train short
  • Starting a train late
  • Cancelling one or more stops
  • Adding one or more stops
  • Reinstating any of the above scenarios
  • Adding an entirely new train

Benefits

  • Saving time by avoiding double entry of data into both Tyrell and LICC
  • The manual input into the LICC is reduced especially at busy times but no additional work is required to input the information into Tyrell
  • Saving time in that one update made to a TOC's Tyrell system can update multiple LICCs through which that train passes
  • Maximising consistency between information about train service amendments given to passengers and to staff
  • Improving the timeliness of cancellations (and other alterations) being communicated to the LICC by CIS operators especially during busy times of disruption or when advice of cancellations by TRUST is not provided in real-time
  • Both Tyrell and LICC systems continue to work in the same manner and thus no special additional training is required
  • As there is a direct information flow from Tyrell to the ATOS LICC, information is synchronised and unaffected by third party systems
